The Circle of Talking Trees

by Kristin Johnson Falling Tree

Before me is a seat of Rock

The trees did call me in to talk

To join the mighty and be as one

Under the morning clouds and sun

Child Tree began to tell his tale

Of learning to bend with every gale

Watching Elders with what they knew

Allowed him to know and so he grew

Youth Tree began to speak her story

Impeccable in all her glory

Reaching for the stars on high

So joyful just to be alive

Old Tree began to converse on life

Witnessing waves of beauty and strife

He saw it all: both evil and good

And simply went on, as he should…

Dead Tree began to call from beyond

Whispering her life above the pond

“fear not” she hushed “of falling one day”

You will endure, I know the way…”

My turn has come to thank them now

For giving me voice, in silence I shout:

“Thank you all for bringing me here

You’ve given me life on this dazzling sphere”

Sitting with the Trees, we are One

Talking in the morning sun

Together we stand and together we fall

In the Circle of Life, the One becomes All…
