Who Am I?

by Jennifer Lopez

My intention during my Soul Walk was to meditate and then take a mindful walk, reflecting on the question Who Am I? Each time something caught my attention, I contemplated how it symbolized an aspect of me and my life and who I am becoming. I focused on embodied responses to what I saw, smelled, and heard.

Who Am I?

A leaf falling from a tree drifting gently down the creek.

A million-baby dandelion puffs floating on the air.

The babbling water flowing swiftly over the rocks.

The Wood Thrush's song echoing through the forest.

A flower growing in the wall of the bridge reaching for the sun.

A yellow swallowtail, fluttering, hesitant, should I, shouldn't I...land.

The spectacular moth, low on the ground, camouflaging itself.

Playful cardinals dancing in the breeze among the trees.

The wind, forceful and strong blowing through the canopy.

The sunlight dappling the water and ground.

Trees twisted, bent, still standing.

Look up! Be inspired.

Look down! Be grounded.

Look around. I am beauty and destruction.

I am decay and growth.

I am shadow and light.

I am you, you are me.
